We joined Hospice in March of 2003, we waited until Conner turned 3 to finally make te call to them. After doing so we wished we would have done it sooner. A nurse generally comes once a week to check in with you and see if there is anything that you need or if there are any concerns. We found that the nurses became friends to us, people we could talk with and people that completely understood what we were going through. They are there for you if you ever need it at a drop of a dime. They have a 24 hour service and if there is something you need at 3 am then they come right away. It made things much easier on us, to not run Conner to the Dr every time he seemed a little sick, or his seizures acted up. The nurse would come and check him out and if there was a problem she would call the Dr and get whatever we needed for him. In addition they provided us with diapers and feeding equipment, and supplies. They brought the hospital to us, so Conner could be comfortable at home with his family. Hospice can not only provide nurses but they can provide pastors or ministers to help see you through your difficult time.

Baptism
Conner Lynn Watkins
April 9, 2003

Many dreams were realized,
when he came to this world.
A long awaited blessing,
as he came his family twirled.

Happiness abounded when,
they first beheld his form.
Joy and jubilation was,
around their house the norm.

As he grew his eyes turned green,
vanilla blonde hair from brown.
He always smiles except bedtime,
when he’s been known to frown.

That’s because he’s wanted to,
enjoy his family.
And to this day he loves them all,
and still smiles happily.

Other things of course he loves,
like “Patty Cake” and “Boo”.
And surely he likes Mickey Mouse,
his bedroom friend so true.

He has always loved to eat,
his juice and some treats.
Imax trips in space and ocean,
with sis, mom, and father.

All of life is precious,
since he is all life itself.
Even when what seems the end,
approaches with such stealth.

But this day we all rejoice,
with confidence that he.
Will one day be in paradise,
to run and play so free.

And as we gather in his home,
for his baptism sweet.
We celebrate the day when he,
the Heavenly will meet.
